Auto repair in the United States is split between independent shops, dealership service departments and national chains. Independents handle most routine work (oil changes, brakes, tune-ups, check-engine diagnostics) at lower labor rates and often specialize in one make or in imports; dealers keep factory tools, software and warranty authority; chains sell speed and standard pricing on maintenance items. Most shops charge a diagnostic fee, credited toward the repair if you go ahead, and quote parts and labor separately. Certification matters: look for ASE-certified technicians and, in many states, a state repair license posted at the counter. Written estimates are required by law in most states before work begins, and you are entitled to your old parts if you ask.

The business lists hours on 7 days of the week. Typical hours are 8 am–8 pm. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. Rude on the phone, never called with an estimate... just did the work and presented a total. installed A brand new tire while the opposing was half worn out. Also put 45psi of air in the tire. You have to really hold a grudge against dealers to subject yourself to this kind of service.

They were very knowledgeable and did a good job with my vehicle @ a fair price.

Took my sons Suzuki carry there to get it road ready for when he turn 16 at the end of the month. Tykes was recommended by a coworker. We couldn’t be happier. Very honest shop. Fair prices. We will definitely be back for future work.

Went there to get my brakes and rotors changed all the way around my truck! Frank did the work and when I left my emergency brake didn't work anymore! Went back and had to wait a week and a half for them to look at it! Went in to be met with attitude from Frank saying he never touched my emergency brake and it couldn't have been working before I came to get the brake work done! I told him everything was working because you guys were the ones that just inspected a couple of months ago! To him then telling me " I dont like people accussing me of not doing my job" I never said he didn't do his job, I said after doing the brakes the emergency brake doesn't work! He refused to rectify the issue unless I paid him to do any further work! This place needs better mechanics and better work ethics and quality! I will never go back there or refer anyone to get work done there! Stay away from this place! And never question their work because they can't do any wrong or make mistakes or miss something that should be taken care of!

I love local businesses and tykes has a great customer service and prices are much cheaper than any other auto shop in my area. However you get what you pay for too. On my last 3 visits I've had to get my brakes fixed twice and both times were less than a year and yesterday l took my car in for a alternator/spark plug and battery issue and my car was fixed for 15 mins and my car was shut down again after leaving the shop and funny enough they recommended new brakes again after they replaced the last ones only 8 months ago. So with that being said l would avoid this place because while they are friendly they are not good mechanics who don't fix things to last long. Only a few months at most. If l were you l would spend more at another shop but at least you know it will last much longer and make you safer on the road than putting band aids on and having the satisfaction of paying less. So overall the prices are great, the people are friendly but the actual job of being a mechanic is atrocious. It's not worth it
